The Divide Between Conventional Education And Vocational Education

Higher education seems to be hopelessly compartmentalized into colleges and  vocational schools. You either go to one or the other. I feel that this is not a healthy system.

I feel that vocational skills should be included in the education system from the early stages itself.

This'll  lead to a much more holistic system of education besides making the studies of science and mathematics more and more exciting. You can understand the higher disciplines of learning much more easily if  you can realize the concepts in practice.

Do you agree?

Do Academics Have A Place In Vocational Schools

I've always found the idea of vocational schools for the less-gifted pupils a ridiculous one. The idea itself is not as ridiculous as the implementation. How can you justify excluding academics or academicians completely?

This has been a major topic for debate in policy circles in the UK in recent times.
A student will only be befitted in the long-run if he has some knowledge of mathematics and liberal arts.

I strongly feel that students in vocational schools should be encouraged to take up other subjects as optional papers, so as to widen their horizons.

Vocational School Teachers Earn The Most

If you think vocational schools are all about minimal fees and low-paid staff, you are decidedly wrong! A recent survey shows that vocational school teachers are among the best paid schoolteachers in the US.

Surprised? You'd not be if you cogitate on the matter a bit.

Vocational schools are all about teaching job-skills. Teachers are normally recruited from the industry. Naturally, they would accept the job only if they get a better pay-package than their earlier job, which is usually good.

So, what say? Are you also planning to join a vocational school as a teacher?

Limiting The Horizons Too Early

If you come from an economically backward European family and have just passed your high school, it's highly likely that your parents would be planning to send you to a vocational school.

There has come to fore a worrying trend in many European countries. Pupils coming from economically-backward sections of the society are mostly opting for vocational schools. The reasons are obviously economic.

But this has led a number of intellectuals to ponder if this is not against natural justice. Vocational schools should be meant only for those students who don't want to continue with their studies after high school.

I feel governments should come up with proposals whereby meritorious students coming from economically backward sections of the society should be given financial incentives to continue with their higher education. What say?

All You Wanted To Know About Vocational Schools

Are you thinking of joining some vocational course that could give you a living but are not sure about vocational schools? If your answer is yes, then I've some information you can use.

A vocational school or a trade school will provide you job-specific training for some particular industry. You can then work in that industry as a skilled labor.

In the United States, these schools are usually post-secondary schools, but in some places replace the final years of high school.

So, if you want to join a course that provides you with necessary skills to get a job and not just bookish knowledge, then vocational schools are the best place to be at.

Vocational school in Watsonville

Some real good news if you are a resident of Watsonville!

Now you will very soon see a vocational training school in Watsonville that would specialize in preparing students for jobs in mechanical trades. It would really help you to great extent in getting the job. This school is to be built on the site of the public library on Union Street and be operated by Cabrillo College.

I think it is a brilliant idea as a vocation school is very essential to reduce the unemployment rate. This school would prepare you to work on auto and diesel engines, farm equipment, air conditioning and refrigeration units. Along with all this it will teach you skills that could be transferable to construction and welding fields.

Overall a one-in-all solution!

Futile eyebrows raised over Blue Hills budget

The proposed share of the Blue Hills Regional Vocational School District budget for fiscal year 2007 raised the eyebrow of many. If this budget is approved, the $1,787,694 figure would represent a $306,458 increase. This fact is hard and big for some to swallow.

Some like John Hardiman, Jr. of Precinct 4 are not ready to support this (Blue Hills) budget. But some have defended the budget and find it justified. Blue Hills provides great education to the students who need it most. So it needs this amount of money. It has to repair its roofs and keep the equipment up to date. It has more students, so it needs more teachers. Taking all these facts into consideration I hold opinion that Blue Hills is not crying for the moon and this budget should be sanctioned without any hullabaloo…!
